Years in the Making

The story begins long ago, in the mid 90's. Katie and Roger met through friends and dated for three years during their early 20s. Then they broke up. (Cue sad trombones). Roger says Katie broke his heart, Katie says she was just young and wanted to find herself. But the bottom line is, Roger never forgot about Katie, and thought of her often through the years. They went their separate ways and lived their separate lives, until one day, in 2015, on a little site called Facebook, Roger decided to take the plunge and send Katie a friend request. They met for dinner to catch up on everything that had happened in their lives during the intervening 15+ years. At first they spent time together as friends, often with Roger's daughter, Abby, visiting museums, restaurants, and water parks. Finally, in September of 2016, they decided it might be crazy, but why not give it another shot? Their official (second) first date was at a charming Italian restaurant and the rest is history. Before long they realized that they were meant to be together and Roger proposed on New Year's Eve 2018, at another charming Italian restaurant.

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”
